Official Setup & Security Guide — Ledger Support™

Welcome to Ledger Setup

Ledger.com/Start is the official onboarding portal for setting up your Ledger® hardware wallet. Whether you’ve purchased a new device or need to restore an existing wallet, this page provides verified instructions to help you begin safely.

Following official setup guidance ensures your device is authentic, your firmware is genuine, and your private keys remain fully protected.

Step 1: Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official application used to manage your crypto assets. It allows you to install apps, view balances, send and receive transactions, and update firmware securely.

  1. Visit Ledger.com/Start.
  2. Select your Ledger device model.
  3. Download Ledger Live for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
  4. Install and launch the application.

Always confirm you are downloading from the official Ledger domain to avoid phishing or malicious software.

Step 2: Initialize Your Ledger Device

Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the provided USB cable (or Bluetooth if supported). Follow on-screen instructions to configure your wallet.

Your recovery phrase is the master backup to your wallet. Write it down and store it offline in a secure location. Never share it with anyone, including Ledger Support.

Step 3: Install Cryptocurrency Apps

Each blockchain requires a dedicated app installed on your Ledger device. Through Ledger Live, you can securely install apps for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other supported cryptocurrencies.

All transactions must be physically confirmed on your device screen, ensuring complete control and security.

Restoring from Recovery Phrase

If you already have a recovery phrase, choose the “Restore from recovery phrase” option during setup. Enter your 24 words carefully using the device interface.

Restoration should always be done privately. Anyone with access to your recovery phrase can control your funds.

Security Best Practices

Ledger hardware wallets are designed with secure element technology that isolates private keys from internet-connected devices.

Why Proper Setup Matters

Cryptocurrency ownership means full responsibility over your digital assets. Proper setup ensures your private keys are generated securely and your wallet remains protected from online threats.

By following official Ledger Support guidance, you can confidently manage your crypto with hardware-level security.
