Securely Initialize and Protect Your Trezor Hardware Wallet
Trezor.io/Start is the official onboarding page for setting up your Trezor hardware wallet. It provides secure access to the official Trezor Suite application, firmware installation, and guided steps to initialize your device correctly. Using the official start page ensures your device setup remains protected from phishing attacks and malicious downloads.
Whether you own a Trezor Model One or Trezor Model T, beginning at the official setup page guarantees authenticity and secure firmware installation. Always type the URL directly into your browser and verify HTTPS before proceeding.
Many phishing websites attempt to imitate wallet setup pages. Using only the official domain protects your crypto assets from unauthorized access.
Avoid public or shared computers during setup. Use a private, secure device to ensure maximum protection.
Open your browser and type: https://trezor.io/start. Double-check the spelling and confirm the secure padlock icon.
Download the official Trezor Suite application for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Install the software to manage your wallet.
Plug in your Trezor device using the USB cable and launch Trezor Suite. The application will detect your device automatically.
New devices require firmware installation. The firmware is cryptographically signed to ensure authenticity and prevent tampering.
Choose “Create New Wallet.” Your device will generate a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed phrase displayed only on the device screen.
The recovery seed is the master backup of your wallet. Anyone with access to these words can control your funds. Write the phrase clearly on paper and store it in a secure location.
After writing down your recovery phrase, the device will ask you to confirm selected words. This ensures accuracy. Then, set a strong PIN directly on your device to protect against unauthorized physical access.
Choose a PIN that is unique and not easily guessed. Each time you connect your wallet, this PIN will be required.
Trezor also offers optional passphrase protection, adding another layer of security. This creates hidden wallets that require both your recovery seed and passphrase to access.
Some models support Shamir Backup, which splits your recovery phrase into multiple shares for enhanced redundancy.
Once setup is complete, you can add cryptocurrency accounts, receive and send transactions, and monitor your portfolio securely through Trezor Suite.
Every transaction must be physically confirmed on the device screen, ensuring malware on your computer cannot authorize transfers.
Responsible self-custody ensures your crypto remains protected long-term.
